Elementary and Middle School News
Hopewell Students contribute their time and talent before the holidays through community service on December 19. Middle School Students are hosting a Bake Sale to support ?Toys for Tots.? Volunteers are still needed to assist with transportation.
Thank you to Mrs. Yilling?s Grade 4/ 5/Transitional Class for collecting the most amount of canned food during the recent hunger drive. Joi Hurd spearheaded the efforts for all grades.
December Spirit Week. Students dressed as their Favorite Team Wear on Friday and Monday, Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday, Pajama Day on Wednesday, Flashback to the 1960/1970/1980?s on Thursday, and Twin Day (Find a friend, Dress as Twins) on Friday. Congratulations to Joi Hurd and David Hooks who coordinated December Spirit Week.
The All New Hopewell Cheer and Spirit Squad will perform at the upcoming home Varsity Basketball Games. Cheer Squad practices are twice weekly. See Ms. Odom for complete details.
Parents are reminded to return school portraits by the end of the week.
The PTO encourages you to complete your Citipass and fundraising scrip orders.
Winter holidays start Friday, December 19th, with an early dismissal at 12:30 p.m.
Students return to school Monday, January 5th.
HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
Science Olympiad Team meets Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Hopewell Students contribute their time and talent before the holidays through community service on December 19. 9th Graders are adopting a family through the ARC of Durham County. Grades 10-12 are helping Habitat for Humanity complete a home before the holidays. Parent volunteers are still needed to assist with transportation.
Varsity Basketball Schedule. Dec 17, Home vs. Franklin Academy, Bond Park, 4:00. Dec 18, Home vs. Fletcher Academy, Bond Park, 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
?Discover Costa Rica? Orientation meeting with Ms. Mariani will be held on Thursday, December 11 at 5 p.m. at Hopewell. Learn more about the Summer 2009 trip to explore the landscape and ecology of this exciting country.

Welcome Back Tigers! The new year started with a roar as our second senior class arrived on campus. Seniors parents
will participate in graduation and senior year planning and the seniors are planning a year of special activities. The school?s second yearbook will get underway during second quarter 2008. And seniors, don?t forget your parking forms must be on file in to the office to park on campus. Students wishing to signup for the next ACT should complete their online registrations as soon as possible.

Lunch forms for PTO Lunch program are due immediately. Please get your forms to the PTO Food Committee this week.
Sports: Co-ed Soccer signups are continuing. Health forms and fees are due now.
After-Practice pickup is at 5:15 at the soccer practice field. And, it is not too late to sign up for the team. See Coach Hernando for more information. Labor Day and the Day after are School Holidays. Meet the Faculty Evening is Tuesday, September 9 at 7 pm.
Parents are reminded that the school day ends at 3:15 pm and car pool pickup is as assigned in the front or rear of the building. Morning drop off is in the front car pool circle. The new bell schedule is in effect.
