Cultural Exchange Summer Camp

Great News!
You do not have to travel all the way to China to learn Chinese language and culture and interact with new Chinese friends. They are coming from China this summer to RTP to meet us, learn our language and experience the art and food of Cary.

This two-week Bilingual International Cultural Exchange Program is initiated by RTP International Cultural Exchange Co. LLC , and organized by and Hopewell Academy plus another local pilot school.

Program Objectives
Today’s world is becoming increasingly globalized in all aspects. Thus, it becomes more important for all students to better understand and appreciate diverse cultures from around the world. It is our vision that such mutual understanding is critical for our youths to contribute positively to the creation of a better future for the world and as future global entrepreneurs.  Hopewell's goals in this program are to provide a increasing diversity of culture, art, music, science, math and technology to all of our students.  By participating in a cultural exchange program we are able to bring new experiences directly to our students here in Cary.

Largest Cultural Exchange Program in the Triangle
Over 75 students and their teachers are coming as part of a month long visit in the United States.  The group will visit Boston, New York, Washington DC, Cary, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles before returning home to Chengdu, China.

Once the group arrives in Cary,  the Chinese students will live with American host families. One host family can host 1 or 2 Chinese students. Hopewell and our partner RTP International Cultural Exchange will compensate hosting families for their generosity and hospitality. Specifically, if a hosting family has a child participating in the program, we will waive one week of tuition (free) for the child. If the family hosts two Chinese students (each with his/her own bed), we will waive two weeks of tuition fee for the student.  Or a stipend will be offered to families who do not have a camper.

How the Program Works
In this uniquely designed program, the Chinese students learn both English and the American Culture.  At the same time, the American students can learn Chinese Language and Cultural Arts. Certified teachers from China escorting the Chinese students will offer American students Chinese Language and Culture. In other learning and activities, students from both groups will mix together to build up friendship and to learn from each other during field trips and other outings.

In this Program
-- Campers will have diversified field trips to High-Tech Companies, government offices, universities, museums, markets,  etc.
-- Campers will learn directly from American and Chinese teachers and interact with American and Chinese students
-- Hopewell and Chinese Teachers will collaborate on a variety of afternoon classes offered in a rotation
-- You will have chance to win a scholarship next year to go to China for Summer Camp free!

Camp Dates
The program is available for one or two weeks:
1. Monday, July 25 - Friday, July 29
2. Monday, August 1 - Friday, August 5

Local campers may choose to attend one or both weeks of the camp.

Host Family & Camp Cost
As part of the cultural exchange program, we are recruiting American families, each to host one or two visiting students. Each host family will be compensated appropriately. Get FREE week(s) if your family hosts 1-2 Chinese student(s) and $100 compensation for each student hosted!

For families with no children going to our camp but would like to host Chinese students, we will compensate the family $300 for each Chinese student hosted. All the students have insurance during their stay in US. The host family will have a copy of the insurance card.

The host period starts from:
7/21 night through 8/8 morning (Hopewell Camp),
